About braces for teens and children in London

At Toothbeary, our aim is to assist teenagers and children by providing quality orthodontic treatments that straighten teeth and prevent any potential dental issues from worsening with age.

Early orthodontic care can give your child a lifetime of happy smiles. Our orthodontic specialist and team of experienced paediatric dentists are trained to identify any dental ailments and advise the best solution for the long-term oral health of your child.

Orthodontics and teeth straightening treatments can help to resolve a host of typical concerns, including:

Crowded & crooked

Teeth that are crowded and crooked can progressively get worse over time, but if you make sure your child receives orthodontic treatment at an early age it can stop any further movement and keep the teeth where they should be. If the overcrowding in the mouth goes unchecked for too long, plaque can build-up and develop serious issues such as tooth decay or even gum disease.

Open bite

Open bite is a condition where the upper and lower teeth are misaligned and don’t meet when biting. This can be identified in children who have sucked their thumbs or used a dummy, but it can also be caused by tongue thrusting or various joint issues. Without treatment, this condition may lead to difficulty chewing, more wear on the back teeth and sometimes even slower eating.

Gaps in teeth

Some children have gaps between their teeth which expose the gum more, making it more susceptible to gum damage. Orthodontic treatment can close these gaps as teeth provide a good safeguard for these sensitive gum areas and therefore preventing damage from occurring.

Overbite

Overbites are when the upper teeth protrude or overlap the lower teeth. This misalignment is commonly caused by thumb or dummy sucking as well as tongue thrusting, and can lead to gum problems, excessive wear of the molars, and significant jaw pain for children.

Underbite

Underbite occurs when lower teeth jut out further than the upper jaw. This issue is often a result of habits such as thumb-sucking; nevertheless, it can likewise be an outcome of your child’s tooth development. At Toothbeary, we specialise in underbite correction as disregarding it may lead to problems such as eating with difficulty, speech impediments and even jaw pains.

Crossbite

If your child suffers from crossbite, Toothbeary’s specialist orthodontists can help. Crossbite occurs when teeth fail to align when the mouth is closed, and it’s often caused by genetics and jaw growth patterns. Through the use of fixed braces, our team can correct such cases – helping to prevent potential pain, unease and shifting in the future.

Correcting jaw growth

At Toothbeary, we have a selection of specialist techniques that can be used to fix tooth misalignment and crooked teeth. We can bring the teeth into position, assure future stability and also ensure room for any new teeth that may grow in.

A wonderful and reassuring experience - a parents review via Google Business

“A wonderful and reassuring experience. I first took my daughter when she was 2.4 years old after a disastrous trip to my own dentist. From the very moment you approach the Toothbeary clinic you know your child is going to be in good hands with experienced paediatric dentists who know how to engage with young children and make the whole experience feel safe and fun. And the whole clinic not only child-friendly, it’s absolutely child-focused! My daughter loves seeing Dr. Mimi!”
